چکیده

There are numerous advantages of using Electric Vehicles (EVs) as an alternative method of transportation but an increase in EV usage in the existing residential distribution grid poses problems such as overloading the existing infrastructure. In this paper, we have modeled and simulated a residential distribution grid in GridLAB-D (an open-source software tool used to model, simulate, and analyze power distribution systems) to illustrate the problems associated with a higher EV market penetration rates in the residential domain. Power grid upgrades or control algorithms at the transformer level are required to overcome issues such as transformer overloading. We demonstrate the method of coordinating EV charging in a residential distribution grid so as to overcome the overloading problem without any upgrades in the distribution grid. Economical Modeling for Managing the Power Transaction of EVs and Power Market in Smart Parking Lots

The battery of electric vehicles (EV) can be charged from the power grid or discharged back to it. Parking lots can aggregate hundreds of EVs which makes them a significant and flexible load/generation component in the grid. In a smart grid environment, the smart parking lot (SPL) can benefit from the situation of the simultaneous connection to the EVs and power grid. This paper proposes a new ...

Energy cost minimization in an electric vehicle solar charging station via dynamic programming

Environmental crisis and shortage of fossil fuels make Electric Vehicles (EVs) alternatives for conventional vehicles. With growing numbers of EVs, the coordinated charging is necessary to prevent problems such as large peaks and power losses for grid and to minimize charging costs of EVs for EV owners. Therefore, this paper proposes an optimal charging schedule based on Dynamic Programming (DP...

MV and LV Residential Grid Impact of Combined Slow and Fast Charging of Electric Vehicles

This article investigates the combined low voltage (LV) and medium voltage (MV) residential grid impact for slow and fast electric vehicle (EV) charging, for an increasing local penetration rate and for different residential slow charging strategies. A realistic case study for a Flemish urban distribution grid is used, for which three residential slow charging strategies are modeled: uncoordina...

Scheduling and Stochastic Capacity Estimation of an EV Charging Station with PV Rooftop Using Queuing Theory and Random Forest

Power capacity of EV charging stations could be increased by installing PV arrays on their rooftops. In these charging stations, power transmission can be two-sided when needed. In this paper a new method based on queuing theory and random forest algorithm proposed to calculate net power of charging station considering random SOC of EV’s. Due to estimation time constraints, a queuing model with...

Optimal Siting and Sizing of Hybrid Energy Systems (PV-WT-CHP) and Electric Vehicle Charging Stations Simultaneously based on Game Theory Approach

This paper proposes a methodology for practical siting and sizing of Hybrid energy systems (HESs) consist of: wind turbine (WT), photovoltaic (PV) and combined heat and power (CHP) units. In this method, the interaction of Plug-in Electric Vehicles (PIEVs) in the electric distribution system is considered. Electric Vehicle are seen to have some negative impacts on electric distribution system p...
